A few reindeer and a trip ot to Husky and Eskimo Lakes

A few more images of the Reindeer and a trip I took out to do a test run to sled to Tuktoyaktuk. More explanation to follow, ha ha

A nice day on Noel, Jimmy, Husky and Eskimo Lake, lots of mirages on Noel Lake. The camp is from Arctic Chalet. They had some guests that were going to dog sled from town to Jimmy lake spend a few days and watch the herd before heading back. the nice thing is that they groomed the track all the way out so it was nice sledding to that point. Husky and Eskimo lakes are fully attached and it is somewhat hard to say where one ends and the other begins. The lakes do have steep shorelines and there is lots of evidence of wave action and slumping. Whether this is due in part to global warming remains to be seen. Saw an active fox den near my turn around point, close by the icicles. Several sections of pressure ridges and oddly formed ice along the way. Some people say that Husky lakes has some areas that don't freeze well, which is something to bear in mind as one crosses 30 kms plus of lake.

Also a pic of one of the herders. Also one of the road, which can be seen from Husky Lake and from the cabin I stopped in on. Also stopped by the vacant Binder cabin on the way back for a break. Not many cabins on Eskimo Lake. Both Husky and Eskimo are brackish - salt water - due to it's connection to the ocean.
