Some pi x from just before Xmas holidays around town and out by Shell Lake / Campbell Lake and the Viewpoint. Colder than usual and a decided lack of snow closed out December 2015 in the Mackenzie Delta. Took some shots in the fading afternoon ight just before total darkness with the ISO in the 6000 range – produced pointelistic soft images, especially the moon rising about the hills just east of the road. Also, interestingly, a “device” lying in the snow on the start of the trail to the viewpoint - who even wants to know how that got there and why.
The lack of snow means everything has a heavy coating of hoar frost on it and the forest becomes white. Again, not much “light” in December and i was pushing the ISO somewhat to compensate. The ice road also officially opened up mid December but at a paltry 3600 kgs which is interesting as my pickup weighs in at 3400 kgs. I was parked down on the ice and could see the surface crack around the truck. Even more fun was had when a second pickup went by and the bow wave was really prevalent from its travels. I elected to not spend too much time on the river that day, safe but spooky. I also see that i have a second reflection in my newly improved eye, interesting. And...that silhouetted plane is the daily Air North sched heading south to Whitehorse via old Crow and or Dawson.
