Inuvik, Place of Man, is currently the northern end of the Dempster Highway. It is a government town of an approximate population of 3200. It's been really muddy...

Last long snowmobile trip of the year, out by Parsons Lake gas field north of Inuvik
Catch up post from about a month ago.
Last big trip just before the ice road closed / melted. Headed up the Tukoyaktuk ice road from town then up Baker Creek and onto Caribou Hills, Ikhil Gas Plant then down the other side to gain the plateau that leads north / northwest
Just east of Ikhil, heading towards the plateau
Just at the base of the plateau / hills that run as a major geologic feature separating the Mackenzie Delta and Husky Lakes, altitudes up to a whopping 300m
The north warning site - i.e. the secret base complete with heli pad landing lights. It is on the northern terminus the hills and looks down on Parsons' Lake and the gas field contained therein. This the one of the anchor fields that was to be used for the Mackenzie gas pipeline project - now defunct of course.
Poor snow condition down by Parson's Lake - tried to get right over to it but no go - soft wet snow in April in the Arctic, hmmm
Heading back along the plateau and back over to the delta - sun setting at midnight exactly at the top of Caribou hills before I made my way back to the ice road / Delta - where the small stretch of open water I had to cross earlier was now 100 feet wide.
