Retro post of Mackenzie river break up in Inuvik from last month

Break up was a bit innocuous this year and was quick, as I mentioned. Lots of candle ice. The flows moved in rapidly and left in a mater of 24 hours or so. there was some debris on the ice but mnothing much as the banks didn't appear to be torn apart too much. Marine road flooded once again, this is normal but doesn't happen every year, high water this year.

Quick shot out by Shell Lake - part way to the Airport, this is the lake used by float planes. at one point the only way you could live here was to have the need to dock a float plane. Lots of old mooring's.

...And down by the Inuvik boat ramp, looking back at downtown, lol. The boat ramp is where all the action is generally, people go down to just sit and watch the comings and goings. These shots were 1 in the morning so things were a little quiet.
