Out by the main cliff at Cambell Lake south of Inuvik on the Dempster Highway

Went for a hike along the now partly improved trail that leads to the better viewpoint at Gwich'in Park. There are some larger bluffs there and some overlooks that are quite nice and off the beaten - so to speak, lol - path. Easy walking along limestone pavement and open bush, went to the southern terminus of the cliff then flanked it enroute to the bottom along the lake. Tried to follow the cliff all the way around the base and back up but no such luck. Some cool fossils in one layer, along with some bouldering on the good layers. nice to be back at the tree by the lake as this was one of the first places I went at Campbell Lake the first fall I was here - walked across the ice then. some decent cliff potential at this end, cleaner rock, higher but harder to get to than my usual crag, may be some potential for late or early season ice runnels here.

The line of dust in the background is from traffic on the Dempster Highway - it has been rather dry this spring and the road is a dust bowl. GNWT Highways took their sweet time getting Calcium chloride down to control it but then they just turned the road into a mud pit - go figure.

...and out by the tourist viewpoint there is a small karst formation - it runs all of about 10m and chokes off really quickly. Nice little cave though- mosquitos like it. Lots of wild flowers this year - wild rose everywhere. A little sun on the lake with a storm brewing in the back ground.
