When I came back from Whitehorse I was on the ice road for a vain attempt to get up to Tuk before the official road closure 2 days hence. Still drivable but at 5 km an hour it would have taken way too long. Surface melt was causing deep potholing - the front end wrecking kind if one were to traverse them at any speed. A lot of overflow seeping on the side as well, up to 50 cm deep in places. Oddly whilst snowmobiling later on the was plenty of water emulating perched aquifers in the berms above the road surface.
So, it's back to driving on the Dempster. Evening shot at 11 PM or so; this was several weeks ago, now it's light all the time.
